Constant Ringing In One Ear And Headache

Written By: admin - Jan• 25•12

Tinnitus is a disorder of the ear in which ringing or swishing sound is heard in the ear or may seem to arise from the head. The ringing sound originates in the outer ear, middle ear or inner ear or may spring from abnormalities in brain. Too much exposure to loud, noisy ambience can damage hearing mechanism and cause tinnitus. One must thus be cautious regarding exposure to high intensity music or noise created by firearms.

Ear wax, any foreign body in external ear, fluids, infection or disease of the middle ear bones or ear drum, hearing nerve ending damage in the inner ear which may occur due to aging or other reasons, medications like aspirin, diseases of inner ear like Meniere’s syndrome etc. Ringing ear may also indicate serious underlying complications like brain tumor or brain aneurysm. There is no permanent cure for tinnitus, but it can be managed with the help of hearing aid, wearable sound generators, tabletop sound generators, cochlear implants and acoustic neural stimulation. The measures to manage tinnitus are adopted keeping in mind, the levels of tinnitus.

Tinnitus can be combated through surgical, chemical or electrical procedures. The good news is that the market has launched a product called Tinnitus Control that effectively treats tinnitus and gives you relief from this embarrassing and cumbersome problem. This tinnitus cure enjoys the approval of FDA, and even doctors recommend the product. Tinnitus Control is a cost-effective ringing in the ears cure. It is composed of purely natural ingredients that too enjoy FDA’s approval. Tinnitus Control is a tinnitus cure, free from any adverse side-effects. It is also simple to use.

Tinnitus Control comes in a package of two: a spray and a vitamin supplement. The spray has to be sprayed under tongue thrice a day. In this way, the natural ingredients would penetrate in to blood vessels easily, enter in to blood stream directly and start showing results faster. The vitamin supplement keeps you healthy and boosts up your digestive system. The supplement has to be taken twice a day. Tinnitus Control checks the symptoms of tinnitus, stops constant ear ringing, and helps to gain control over body’s equilibrium.

The ingredients of Tinnitus Control include gingko Biloba, natural garlic, zinc, Stearic acid, arnica, Silcea, Pulsatilla, Chininum Sulphuricum, iron, Natrum Sulphuricum etc. These ingredients amazingly silence your ringing ears, and give you back the life you had been missing since a long time. The product thus gives you a sound tinnitus cure.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
I’m not sure what’s wrong. Constant headaches, trouble breathing, ringing in ears….?
If anyone could let me know what might be wrong with me and how to fix this, that would be great. I have headaches all the time. I had to switch from ibuprofen to excedrin migraine. I also hear ringing in my ears occasionally and trouble breathing. Also, I have trouble staying asleep, and I never feel well rested. When I played tennis, I would get dizzy and one time I passed out. I don’t know if any of this is related. I’m beginning to think I have a brain tumor or something and it scares me.
As far as my heath goes, I’m 19, 5’1″ and 94lbs. My doctor says I’m healthy except for low blood sugar (could that cause all of that?). These symptoms have occurred for as long as I can remember. Help? :(
My doc did a test for anemia one time (came out negative), and I’m not low on iron. :(

  2. QUESTION:
What could this noise be? Subtle, high pitched/like ears ringing coming from only one room in the house.?
Four family members of various ages hear the sound in one room only. My son cannot sleep in his bedroom where the noise is heard. We checked all electrical devices and toys, windows (thought it might be crickets and is not), television, lava lamp, smoke detector, etc. You cannot hear the noise in his closet or the hallway or any other room in the house. We even took his wristwatch out of the room. It is a constant, barely audible, high pitched sound as if your ears are ringing and the sound is not real, yet you get an eye/and headache if in his room for more than a few minutes. What else could it be??? What else should we check? He is sleeping in the spare bedroom for now, since it is unbearable. Myself and husband in our 30′s hear it, as well as my son who is 10, and our daughter who is 6. This is not a joke, or riddle…..so please offer only serious suggestions. Thank you!

    • ANSWER:
I would first shut off the main power supply in the breaker box and then listen for the noise. If it goes away, it is something electrical. Possible the transformer for the doorbell, etc… Next turn the electric back on one circuit at a time to see if the noise reappears. Then follow the circuit to isolate the malfunction.
If that does not stop the noise try to isolate the noise to see if it coming from the attic, walls, or floor. It could be a water flowing in a pipe or air flowing over a air / vent pipe.

      Good luck…..

  3. QUESTION:
    Ear fullness and painful headaches!?
For 5 years I have had fullness in my ears, similar to a barometric pressure change, but it doesn’t go away for an instant. I have constant ringing in my ears. Every few months or so, I get extremely painful headaches when I change altitude. These headaches only last for around 7 minutes, but it hurts so bad that I can’t drive, I can’t see straight, I feel like I might seizure any moment, and I just want to pass out. But there is no sensitivity to light, or many other symptoms of regular migraines.
I’ve been to different specialists, and I don’t have an ear infection, I don’t have Meniere’s disease, no wax build up, and antihistamines don’t work. One guessed that I have TMJ caused by my braces but I’ve had them off for 3 years now and the problem continues… I did have dizziness, but that was cured by repositioning my ear crystals.
I don’t know what to do!
    I have seen MANY doctors!

    • ANSWER:
Carrie – it sounds like you have fluid build-up behind your ear drums. Did the doctors notice that?

I have something similar, but mine was brought on by an infected tooth! Got the tooth fixed, but it took MONTHS for the ear to get better.

Do you have allergies, sinus problems – or something like that? I’m wondering what might keep fluid there all the time…… eustachian tube blockage?

Have the doctors done a head x-ray to see what’s going on?

  4. QUESTION:
    Tension headache or Sinus headache?
.I’ve been having this “problem” DAILY for almost a year now. Here are the following symptoms and important things to note. I am a 20 year old male.

    - “Pressure” type of feeling INSIDE of my skull. Sometimes it feels like it’s on the back of my head, sometimes on the top, and sometimes behind/inside my forehead. This pressure allows me to move the muscles on the back of my head and essentially making my ears move as well. I was never able to move my ears until this “pressure” appeared.

    - My forehead seems to be really tense and i can’t relax them. It’s even causing me to slowly develop wrinkles because it forcefully makes me frown (slightly).

    - I can make popping sounds inside my ears, it sounds louder on the right ear. My ear also starts ringing out of nowhere once in a while.

    - Constant quiet ear ringing (tinnitus?). I can hear it inside my head constantly but its very quiet

    - My nostrils feel blocked (always worse on the right nostirl). I get no discharge of any sort. I sneeze 1-3 times a day (which could be normal since it’s kinda cold these days). As a matter of fact, everything on my right side of the face feels worse. My right eye is droopier, my right nostril is more blocked, my right ear has a louder pop

    - Massive pressure on my eyes. They look and feel VERY droopy and heavy. Sleeping more seems to help. No allergy-like symptoms like tearing or redness.

    - Hard time falling asleep. My body will feel very worn out but my head just doesn’t feel sleepy!

It’s been going on consistently for over a year, DAILY. Sleeping more seems to make the symptoms a bit better (atleast with the tired eyes problem).

A while back i went in for a HEAD CT and MRI. They searched for any “big” conditions like meningitis and such. I’m not sure if they bothered to watch for the sinuses since it was a HEAD scan and not SINUS scan. And i believe tension headache’s can’t be detected on those scans either. The doctors weren’t sure of the cause. One doctor said it was tension headache, and the other said it was a sinus infection or some sinus problem.

I’m having insurance problems so i won’t be able to see a doctor for a few months. I just wanna find out what the problem is so i can plan ahead

    • ANSWER:
First off I can tell you that you can keep going to the doctors until heck freezes over and they aren’t going to give you any better answer than they already did. They haven’t looked for the problem yet. You’re not feeling well, so how much exercise do you think you are getting? I bet not enough. And how much water have you been drinking, probably not enough there either, huh? And what do you eat, much for fresh vegetables and fruits? Those are the two most important things to be eating. If you change and do this for one week then ask me about more I can help you with that too. In the meantime try this and see if it relieves some of the pressure in your brain. Grap two handfuls of hair on top of your head, one on each side and give them a pull upward and hold for about twenty seconds. Do it in the back also. If you felt relief it is not sinus headaches you have.

  5. QUESTION:
What to do for TMJ and pain?
I went to an ENT and they said I have TMJ. I have ear pain, neck pain, severe headaches and constant ringing in my ears. I have called many dentists and they said I have to see a specialist. Well, since it is the weekend, no one around here that I called is open. What are some things I could do to help lessen the pain? I have been taking motrin 800′s but it is not helping me at all. I tried ice, and now am trying a heating pad. What has helped you in the past???

    Thank You!

    • ANSWER:
go to the e.r. they can give you something strong to hold you over till you get to talk to the specialist. don’t eat a lot and drink fluids. if you are having that bad of pain you need to see someone to give you something stronger. even a walk in clinic if you don’t want to go to the e.r.
      feel better soon

  7. QUESTION:
please help.. i have been having headaches , dizziness , sand ringing in ears for four months?
I have had 2 mri’s , been to ENT and Neurologist. No diagnosis so it defaulted to migraines.. I’m in constant pain. 8. QUESTION:
I can’t hear out of my right ear but the nurse said it’s not wax?
I’m 19 and for over a month I’ve been on and off sick with different cold and flu symptoms. A week and half ago I suddenly felt ill, I went to bed and spent the night shivering and had a Temperature. The next day I wasn’t shivering anymore but I had the worst headache of my life followed by an evening of a really bad throat(i’ve had this on off for a month) and really bad ear ache in both ears. The following morning I woke up, my left ear felt fine but my right ear was a little blocked and a few hours later some fluid came out. Since then my hearing in that ear is getting worse. I can hear constant ringing and if I do here something in that ear it sounds different. If I touch the area it feels kind of numb but I can feel pressure inside. So fed up, this afternoon I went to see a nurse(doctor was unavailable) she looked in my ear but said everything looked normal no wax, no swelling, no redness etc… She said the ringing is Tinnitus. She checked my throat and on the same side as my deaf ear, my throat looked sore and red. But she said she doesn’t know why I have hearing loss and secondly why it’s only in one ear. I have booked an appointment to see a doctor but will have to wait a few days. Can anyone think of whats wrong with my ear? Im worried it will be permanent.

  9. QUESTION:
How many days can you let a fever go before you should see a doctor?
I’m 23. I came down hard with the flu on Monday. The highest my fever went that day was 103.4. Tylenol (500mg) brought it down to the 102-103 range. That evening I took one Aleve, which brought my fever down to 101.something.

Tuesday I tried Aleve again. I took two in the morning and two in the evening. That kept my fever at about 101. I still had a hard time sleeping last night.

This morning (Wed) I took two more Aleve and my fever came close to breaking. It stayed fairly consistently between 99-100 throughout the day. This evening I took two Ibuprofens (400mg), but my fever is back up just over 100 again.

Other symptoms include mild aches (they’ve lessened significantly), dry cough, a constant headache, chills, and fatigue. Because I’ve been coughing for three days, I’m also getting a sore throat. My head/nose have grown congested today. My ears are plugged/ringing. I am drinking fluids, taking meds, resting.

How much longer can I let this go before seeing a doctor?

    • ANSWER:
You should see a doctor. Especially because your fever started to rise again. Also, when your body gets the chills, this indicates something may be seriously wrong, especially this far along. If it were the first day I’d tell you to wait, but it isn’t. There are other illnesses you might have that have these same signs/symptoms as the flu, but are much worse. I would not wait any longer! Also, if your fever reaches 104, you can get brain damage.
It sounds like you’ve done all you can to help yourself, let the doctors and nurses help you out. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  10. QUESTION:
Headaches dizziness neck stiffness muscle pain twitching ringing ears?
    Hello,

I am a nineteen yo female. I have been have dizzy headAches now for just over a month. They are constant and they do not go away. I do not feel like the room is spinning more that I am swaying and I need to steady myself. My neck feels stiff and turning my head makes me feel nausea. I am sick physically every few days and wake up every morning feeling sick. I struggle sleeping and my headaches feel more sever at night when I’m lying down and this is when my ears tend to start ringing. My left arm is feeling heavy and it hurts to touch in places, I also struggle to carry heavy items in it. My legs twitch and spasm when I hold them out straight and this also occurs when I try walking down the stairs. I am seeinG a specialist on the 22nd and I am scared stiff. What could this be? Also, a week into the symptoms my boyfriends mother was diagnosed with a brain tumour and I am worried that I have one. It is constantly on my mind… The worry.. Could the stress be causing the problem, please help I’m really scared. Also my bp was 138 over 88 when usually it is around 100 over 70 and my heart rate was 96 on four occasions.

    • ANSWER:
Stress could well be the cause of all your problems – including a slight rise in your BP.
Anxiety precipitates a multitude of symptoms, see link.

It could be a viral infection ofthe inner ear (labyrinthitis) which is leading to headaches, vertigo and tinnitus (ringing in the ear).
      Or, as suggested Meniere’s disease.
You must understand we can only guess.

Neither of the above have anything to do with a brain tumour, which is most unlikely at your age.

This won’t stop you worrying, but do try to stop taking your pulse and BP, by doing so you create a vicious circle as anxiety sends them up.

I am sorry about your boy friend’s mother, you and he are bound to be upset, comfort each other.
      Good Luck on the 22nd

  12. QUESTION:
    What is my Medical Condition?
First let me say that I don’t really believe in taking medicine. I’ve been always focusing on healing myself through herbs and natural things. I researched everything I can do for myself to limit the pain. I take vitamins. I eat healthy. I work out when I can bare it. It was hard at first to have to will power to adjust to this lifestyle at such a young age, but I got it under control now. I don’t do drugs and only drink on special occasions. I’m 20 years old and struggling with fibromayaliga, or what they think I have, but I think I have something that I don’t know about, and it’s been bothering me a lot. The main thing that worried me lately is that my right eye the skin above my eyebrow is slowly overtime sagging. Now, I know that sounds silly, but I’ve known my face for as long as I can remember, and I definitely see a change. A fact that you should know that I think might have something to so with this is ..when I was 15 I was hit in the face with a softball during a game I was playing and I fractured the bone below my eye. I guess would be called the cheek bone. I was tested for pretty much everything that go along with these symptoms. I don’t take any medication. I’m not worried about the pain at this point. I am worried about what medical condition I really have. To me I can’t except the fact that I only have Fibromayaliga. Anyways hear are a list of my symptoms.

    My symptoms:
    TMJ
    Horrible Gas pain
    Muscle spasms
    Joint, muscle and bone pain.
    Cracking of joints
I use to have 20/20 Vision but now I feel like that’s changed
    Constant headaches
    Random light headedness
    Anemia
    Ringing in ears
    Face pain
    Stiffness
    Anxiety attacks
    toe numbness
    loss of some hair
    Bruise easily
    loss of weight

This is the gist of the symptoms.

At first I thought I might of had Lyme. They tested me twice and the results both came back negative. Still kind of convinced I have it. Can some one please feed me with some knowledgeable information, and please no negative feed back. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
ditto to what Cat said….. you must persist. Sounds as if you are on to something, and I saw the same show. I can’t remember how long it took, but the Lyme tests only come back positive at certain points in the course of the disease.

But…. I have to say that almost every symptom you list does also point to fibromyalgia…. and a LOT of the symptoms often accompany anxiety and/or panic attacks.

I wish the best for you. Try and be patient, persist, insist on tests and try some relaxation techniques. Honestly, regardless of what it is… you are going to need to learn to relax and put the least amount of stress on your body and mind as possible.

      Peace.

  13. QUESTION:
Migraines…and advice…does it sound like I have them?
I recently went to an ENT doctor for pain and pressure in my (right) ear(s). I also get dizzy at least 3 times a week. I do have extremely bad headaches that worsen throughout the day. I get them at least 5 days a week. I always take Excedrin, as that is the only thing that works. I don’t want to because it is aspirin and I don’t want to over-use it anymore. I get random pains near my ears too. Loud sounds bother me a lot, but sometimes I feel like I loose my hearing and I can never understand people and I am always asking them to speak clearly and louder. I have tinnitus (constant ringing in my ears). Sometimes it really loud and sometimes not. Sometimes I feel sick to my stomach too. Light can be bright, but not so much a hassle like in other migraine sufferers and I don’t think I get an aura either, except maybe the dizziness. Sometimes people irritate me so much that I have “mood swings”. I sometimes get that slight dizziness and I get nervous and I feel like I am out of control. I feel like I am psycho.
Anyways, the ENT (eyes, nose, throat) doctor said my ears look fine. My hearing test was pretty normal except one area, but there is no concern. He thinks maybe I have Migraines. I need to contact my other doctor and discuss my headaches with him.

I am going to start doing a log of my headaches.
What do you think about all my symptoms?

    • ANSWER:
I believe you are describing migraines. (I get tired of everyone assuming that migraines are just bad headaches.) I have chronic migraines as well. It feels like a flu without the sore throat. I got one when I was five that put me in the hospital. I’d see shadows and couldn’t handle light, sounds, or smells. I would recommend going to see a specialist.

  14. QUESTION:
I think i may have a CSF leak?
I have read up a little bit on CSF leak, but i would like some opinions about my case.

It started about a week ago, when i stood up, i felt this really odd pressure in my head that started in the back of my neck, then went all the way up the back of my head and into my sinus in about 2 seconds. Then it made the right side of my sinus almost pop (?) i guess.. then instantly my right nostril has had pressure in it ever since.

About 2 days later, my ear felt plugged up, and i couldn’t hear out of it too well.
Then comes the periodic ringing in the ears for the next few days. Yesterday i had a headache that lasted all day – persisted through tylenol.
And today, along with constant pressure in my nose, headache, and periodic ringing in the ears/earache, i have been tasting an almost metallic/sweet taste in the back of my mouth that tastes like saline. The headache is usually present when i’m sitting down. I don’t have a sneeze, cough, runny nose or anything, so it’s not a cold.

The only time i had suffered any head trauma was back in 2005 when i rolled my car and got a huge goose egg on the side of my forehead (minor cuncussion). I have had 3 epidurals (2 in one night) in the past 2 1/2 years, last one being 8 months ago. I just want to know if i should see a doctor.

    • ANSWER:
      DEFINITELY GO.
Those symptoms are not normal. Be sure not to leave anything out so the doctor can best diagnose you or order the appropriate tests.

  15. QUESTION:
Tons of test done, all back negative.Chest pain when moving a certain way, heart completely fine. Can anyone help?
For a few months now i been having chest pains but its only usually at night when im laying down and move a certain way. I’ve had about 10 ekg/ecg’s done,a chest x-ray,blood work,a heart ultrasound, wore a holter monitar. All came back fine.

I was told i got acid reflux, high blood pressure and anxiety, but neither one would cause that.

I have been getting headaches, muscle jerks and twitches and sometimes muscle weakness and numbness. I also get tingling in my hands and feet when at rest. I have had back pain and numbness and numbness in my thighs. Also i have a constant ringing in my ears when its slient.

My one doc mentioned it could be a muscle thing but is not gonna run test for that yet.

Anyone have any idea what is going on?

(sorry its kinda long but its getting annoying to me i been dealing with this for months and would like to know if anyone else has this)

Oh yeah im 21 and overweight.

    • ANSWER:
Your chest pain is caused by pinched muscles in your back. They don’t show up on the scans or tests so they go undiagnosed. When back muscles are pinched they often send the pains around your body on the nerves to become pains in the rib, chest or heart areas. When you lay down the pressure points change so the pains can happen easier or harder, depending upon where the pressure is being switched to. To get rid of this pain you have to free up your back muscles and here’s how to do that:
      Back:
      (do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side. Pinched muscles in your back will elevate your blood pressure, and you can have the muscles pressing onto the nerves going to your stomach, as they leave the spine, to cause the stomach to release more gastric acid which would be the cause of the acid reflux they mentioned. Anybody in pain is going to be anxious so no need to beat that one to death. The muscles can be tight in your lower back as well which would press onto the nerves going to your legs to cause the pains in them.
Your headache and ringing in your ears would be caused by tight neck muscles. Your neck muscles go to the top of your head where they connect to muscles going around the head. When the neck muscles get tight they pull on the head muscles and when the head muscles go into pain you have your headache. The neck muscles pass just inside the ears on the way up and when tight can press onto the nerves for your ears to cause the ringing you are hearing. To get rid of these problems you have to free up your neck muscles and here’s how to do that:
      Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about one minute, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds. If any pain remains repeat this. For both- for best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

  16. QUESTION:
    Scared – Brain Aneurysm.?
Okay, so I went to the doctor with my dad about my headaches and stuff, and dad asked her to tell me that i haven’t got a brain aneurysm. she just kind of sat there for a bit, and dad asked again, and she said,
“i don’t think, in fact i’m almost 100% sure you haven’t got anything like that” but she kind of muttered it.
so i went home feeling the same, petrified.

    i still have these symptoms;
    - headaches, mostly right side
    - eye aches and pains, mostly right side
    - constant right ear pressure (when i hold my nose and blow it pops, but doesn’t help.)
    - i have ringing in my ear, like a high beeping noise, not a lot, but sometimes.

    IM SCARED!
because i typed in my symptoms on google and this person had had this headache for a while now, and it came everyday, and it was mild, and he had ear pressure or something.
    and this person answered saying,
    “DUDE!
No joke, i knew a girl who had mild headaches everyday for a month. she just ignored it and went to work, did chores, e.t.c. then one day she phoned up the healthline and they told her to go to the ER immediately, and as she got there she passed out on the doorstep. it was a subarachnoid hemorrhage.
i also i knew a boy down the road who died from one. i know people say this stuff is rare, but its not really. better to be safe than sorry”

    and i instantly freaked out.
i had some paracetamol today before i went out with my friend, and it didn’t help much.
i got a headache the whole of my right side of head (backas welll) and panicked.
i do get eye aches/pains/headaches the other side, but not as often at all.

    i have no blurred vision,
and i can balance properly and stuff.

although, last night, i was trying to get to sleep, and i opened my eyes and it looked like there was black flashing from the light, even though it was off, and i freaked out.

    PLEASE HELP!!

i have no family history of aneurysms, no serious head injuries, non smoker, drinker, and am 13 years old :(

    • ANSWER:
Chloe Y – An accurate diagnosis would require the right type of examination. Subarachnoid hemorrhages frfom a brain aneurysm hemorrhage are very unlikely and usually present as an emergency. Possibilities include migraine headaches and middle ear problems. Probably the best doctor to check your health would be a neurologist or an ear, nose & throat specialist. The right treatment first requires a good diagnosis. Good luck.

  17. QUESTION:
    Are these symptoms of anemia?
I have always had really bad headaches ever since I was in grade 4, I am now in grade 12 these headaches are constant and never stop. I also always had and still having ringing in my ears. It mostly bothers my left ear, my left ear is also very sensitive with noise. Recently though last may my period started weird, I would not have it for two months, then have a really heavy flow the next. I have now noticed that I get this weird brown stuff before and after my period that I never got before. Also in May I started getting these chest pains mostly on my right side. This lasted about a month and a half, and I haven’t had any since. The weird periods and ofcourse headaches still continued after that. In October one night I had a really bad headache that was on this bump I have on the top of my head. That bump throbbed with pain and I felt really dizzy I couldn’t sleep. I also have joint pains mostly in my elbows and knees but I can get them in my fingers also. Another thing is after that weird chest pain I’ve had a little bit of trouble breathing, it just when I take a full breath sometimes it feels like I can’t do it, other times I can. Also I can feel my heart beat all over, mostly in my legs fingers and head. I also have twitching all over especially in my right eyelid and legs. Sometimes my arms and legs feel tingly. I haven’t missed any periods since last October but they seem to be a heavier flow them ever before. I also have days where I feel really dizzy and tired. It sometimes feels like I have trouble remembering things also. I’m too scared to go to the doctors because of what they will say. I also haven’t told anyone because of my nerves. Lastnight my mom told me that I looked pale almost a tinted yellow color which scared me. I am so scared to see her today because if he says the same. Please help me!

Sounds like a lot of the same things I have… I’ve never been diagnosed with anemia, but I used to get such bad periods I’d be sick for three days and unable to do anything. I’m now on a birth control that has made my periods almost nonexistent and it has iron pills on the “on” days.

I just got iron pills today just in case I do because I’m tired regardless of how much sleep I get and my sister is borderline anemic.

  18. QUESTION:
Is this anemia!? Or what? Please help me :’( ?
19. QUESTION:
    Brain tumor 14 years old?
Im just so scared if I have brain tumor. 3 months ago I have 3 seizures, small mild ones happening only a nanosecond, and I have aura where I smell a really bad smell. I’m so scared I read my symptoms on wikipedia apparently all of them matched brain tumor. I lose my sleep over these worries. Besides that, my arms and legs usually jerks, and my eyesight has blurred visions and floating zigzags. OMG I’m hyperventilating right now. I don’t want to die. I have headaches for a while now, a few weeks, everyday no doubt. A few days ago my eyes feel burning hot. I get constant ringing in my ears. My grandma has brain tumor she passed away partly of that, partly of diabetes. But shes old and they didnt check if its cancerous or not. IM scared mine is. I have double vision sometimes, sometimes only, lasting a few seconds and I blink and its over. OH GOD. HELP ME. My parents won’t bring me to see a doctor or scan my brain, because they think Im paranoid because I’ve been pestering them for a few years that I might have leukemia, and other cancers, because I misread my symptoms as something else. I’ve been having the eye problem for a while now. The other symptoms were just a few months ago. Headaches. OMG. Pls say its nothing, pls say its just a neurological disorder and that it can be cured. OH MY GOD. They won’t bring me, I’m scared Im crying really hard now, What am I going to do??????!!!!!!! OMG. Help me pls, help me.
At first when I get all these blurred vision I thought I have eye cancer. When I got these weird sensations in my body, I thought it was leukemia. When my feet jerk for no reasons and I get pain, I thought it was bone cancer. SO now I have all these symptoms that all applied to Brain tumor, I WOULD be scared. I know I’m paranoid for a reason. Please don’t say I have anxiety or I’m just overreacting because I’m not, and I’m scared.

    • ANSWER:
So you haven’t actually been diagnosed with a brain tumor, this is just something that you’ve come up with on your own? You should probably see a doctor if you’re having the problems you describe, but until you do I would try to calm down.

A brain tumor on one of the cranial nerves could definitely cause at least some of your symptoms, but I can’t see how a single tumor could cause all of them… I don’t know. It does sound neurological, but I’m not a doctor and it’s impossible to say without an MRI.

  20. QUESTION:
am i just being a hypochondriac…are these symptoms normal?
i think i may have MS. my mom has it, my uncle has it. i’ve been having seemingly unrelated symptoms occurring at the same time, in what i call “episodes” For lack of a better word.
but i’m afraid to tell anyone or go to the doctor because i’m a notorious hypochondriac so i’m scared i’m just “imagining” that these symptoms are abnormal.
SOME of the symptoms (that have newly begun occurring this “episode”) are ringing ears on and off, as well as intermittent periods of deafness in one ear (for less than 30 seconds at a time usually)
and my eye blurs, usually later in the day, i try to blink it out but can’t for a few minutes…
a couple times a month i wake up with “the worst headache of my life” in the middle of the night…i take a motrin and about 20 minutes later fall back asleep only to feel pretty normal the next day (though sometimes my head has a faint pain in it throughout the next day)
i dance around with my infant in my arms and when i do that lately i lose my balance and sometimes it feels like the earth begins to move beneath my feet
this past week my arm feels like someone punched it and gave me a dead arm for at least 15 minutes at a time a couple times a day–randomly.

this is in addition to almost constant thumb twitching and patches of skin going half numb…
two years ago (about the second year i began having strange symptoms) i had what seemed to be a simple partial seizure but i didn’t go see the doctor right away (its a long story)
seems around this time of year it gets worse….through the summer…then winter comes and mostly i’m just dead tired for the winter…and depressed.

    • ANSWER:
I think it is something you should get checked out for. It could be nothing or an autoimmune disease. Many diseases mimic each other. I have Sjogrens Syndrome and it mimics MS or Lupus.

It is scary to feel you may have something. BUT, if you do, the sooner you are able to treat symptoms….the better you can prolong or keep the bad flare ups at bay.

      Take Care!

I feel twitching in my head that comes with pain. I have been to my doctor more times than I can count, she says they are Migrains, I know that they are not. I was so desperate for pain relief that I went to the U of M and was given a steriod, that I was told it would work, I still feel no relief, But its only been a day, they also gave me some Migrain meds and Pain Meds. No one Understands what kind of Pain Im going through. It has been four months, I cant take it anymore. My Face is tingling, My temples are twitching, so is my face. My ears are ringing. My face feels like its on fire, Im VERY shakey, Im in a complete fog, It feels as though there are firecrackers going off in my head I will get a VERY cold feeling in my head Along with very Hot sensations. I can touch the back of my head and feel pressure in the front. There is pain behind my right eye. If feels like I have something crawling around in my head. I also Get nail driving pains in small spots of my head ALL over, On the right side of my head there is A LOT of pressure that NEVER goes away. My left ear lobe hurts and that started today 01/28/09 sometimes im Okay for an hour or so out of they day but other than that the pain is constant 24/7 no Medication seems to help, I have been on many. I have been to the eye doctor and my eyes are fine, I do have a B12 deficeincey I take injections every four weeks. I feel like Im being tortured. I need HELP quick. I was given an MRI/MRA in Oct. and another MRA plus a ct scan on Jan.15 the ones on jan. 15th were normal, The one in Oct. detected a small lypoma, But the doctors all ensure me that the pain is not a result of the lypoma.

has anyone ever went threw this before I cant take it anylong its driving my CRAZY what can I do to get the E.R to help? my doctors are doing nothing, If the E,R were to admit me could I then get the help I need?

    • ANSWER:
if you had already brain scanned/MIR and find nothing, i doubt they did not scan it well or perhaps they didn’t tell you the real cause. since it is already four months, there must be something that is not tested yet. how about blood testing? did you have it? brain tumor? cancer test? etc. etc. have yourself be fully checked and not only to your head. some could be causes from something inside your body and that is wired to your head which i highly doubt that’s your brain interpreting it. do not just depend on what doctors will say and give you medications, you have to tell them everything you’re taking has no help. i can’t believe your area is like that, without giving full attention and medication to their patients having headaches for months!

  25. QUESTION:
I am having headaches on the left side of my head and the top. Brain tumour? Anxiety?
Ever since i could remember i have always had really bad headaches. Ever since grade 4, and now i am in grade 12. I never really thought anything bad of it until last year when they got severely worse. The headaches are always constant, and they are usually on the left side of my head, and goes to the top right in the centre. Right at the top of my head i feel like a bump, and it is tender to touch, also the left side of my head is tender to touch too. I have twitching all over my body, which started last summer, i usually get twitching in my eyelids, but i also get them everywhere else in my body. I sometimes feel dizzy, but not usually, if i do feel dizzy it’s mostly when i stand up. I have ringing in my ears, mostly in my left one, i also have a lot of joint pains, especially in my elbow, wrists, and knees. I also get pains in my arms and face. My headaches sometime go onto my right side of head, and also the whole head area. when i lay down on my right side i seem to get even worse headaches so i lay on my left. i think it may be a tumour..but i also think i have bad anxiety but i never got it checked with the doctors. I went to the eye doctor last december and everything was fine, i even got a blood test last month and my blood pressure and everything is fine. What do you guys think?

    • ANSWER:
I originally was going to say that you probably just suffer from migraines, because they usually just target one spot of your head. But, since you told me that you began twitching last summer, I highly recommend getting an MRI or CAT scan of some sort. Severe, and constant headaches that result in twitching or seziures, or other involuntary movements are often huge warning sings of a brain tumor. I don’t want to scare you, but it is best that you go get checked for a tumor. I’ll be praying for you, friend.

  26. QUESTION:
My sick day visitor that just wouldn’t leave?
I’ve had the flu since last thursday, I had friday off and I’m taking today – monday off as well. I still feel pretty rotten I feel so intensely hot its mad – whereas yesterday I was freezing – I’m tired, I’m coughing like a veteran smoker and I look like I haven’t been in the sun in a month.
This morning I was up at 5 and couldn’t get back to sleep for coughing up crap. I saw my roommates off to work by 730 and rang my place, then I went, stripped to my boxers and layed down in the lounge on the tiles with a huge as water bottle – I was hot – I must’ve nodded off to sleep and got woke up by a couple of friends at the door. That was 819
They’d come round to see how I was, which is nice. I invited them in, showed them where the coffee/tea was – asked if I should chuck a shirt or pants on and they said it was ok, so I stayed as was. They updated me about the weekend, had a laugh and my head started thumping. One of them wished me well and he took off for workabout 930, leaving me with Chanelle,
We chatted on for a bit, had an awkward silence and I went back into the kitchen and got some pills, she just sat and watched me, I made her an egg on toast while i was there – which she watched me make like a hawk – I washed my hands and stuff – didn’t cough or sneeze while making it. Newy, she ate it really slowly constantly looking at it and me and talking inbetween bites. Then another awkward silence and we started on the video games for about and hour – after our game, we had another stalled one sided convo on the sofa, interlaced with some more coughing, during, I must’ve gone asleep again.

Next thing I know it’s half hour ago, I’m waking up sweating, wearing a beanie and a pair of socks, half under a blanket on my sofa, with Chanelle’s arm round my shoulder, stroking my collarbone, while she’s watching some morning show and I’m having tenting issues under my blanket. I croaked a hello and thanks, said I’d go to bed, she said ok, I said now, she said OHk she gave me a hug, she wished me well, said she might come round this afternoon, and that she’ll just wash the dishes she’d used and leave, she locked up for me too.

If I’m honest I was happy to see them earlier, But by the time Jake had left, I really didn’t feel like it anymore. By the time Chanelle left I was actually getting kindof grumpy with her – Eating my food like I was poisoning her, rabbiting my ear of while I’ve got a mad headache, constant staring – yes I do look horrible today, and above all the hanging about when I fell alseep, I think I’d’ve been inclined to wake me up, tell me I was going and leave me in a bit of peace, specially If I was feeling this bad – cos now I can’t sleep!!!
Sound s a bit like a blog winge actually doesn’t it?

    But there are questions -
How would you deal with this?
What do you reckon of Chanelle’s behaviour? reasonable seeing as I didn’t actually tell her to leave me alone?
What shall I do if anyone come this afternoon?

    • ANSWER:
How would you deal with this? Either not answer the door when she comes … or … just tell her that you have to stay in bed and just not up to company now .. so you have to tell her bye now.

What do you reckon of Chanelle’s behaviour? reasonable seeing as I didn’t actually tell her to leave me alone? ,,, you said ” Chanelle’s arm round my shoulder, stroking my collarbone” .. is awfully weird .. I would have freaked .. I don’t what to think of this … none of my friends act like this … hmmmmm … and with you not complaining for her to leave you alone – she may think it’s ok with you.

What shall I do if anyone come this afternoon? (1) Don’t answer the door .. thus – no prob to deal with (2) or … be firm – tell her that you are not up for company right now — that you are too sick — and you feel too bad — sorry … and you don’t want anyone else in the house – it’s germy right now .. bye – check you later when I am well.

  27. QUESTION:
Sudden/Random feeling of everything being fake, lasting for weeks?
One day, I was sitting down with my family ready to eat and everything got suddenly weird. I was acting very proud and then was thinking that I wasn’t like myself. I then started thinking everything was fake as well as the people around me. All of the sudden, I felt as if I was going to faint and everyone said I turned pale. I went outside to calm down and then layer in bed while everything still didn’t feel normal. I missed a week of school and i’m only 14 with no stress or anxiety besides 4th grade.

    Symptoms that came:
Distorted sense of time (feeling as if time stand stills), ringing in the ears, depersonalization/derealization, sore throat, headaches, seeing light flashes, being out of it, not feeling like myself, everyone is here but I’m not, constant tiredness, short term memory, panicking about not being myself, feeling as if my heads disconnected from my body and some more.

I’ve been googling and googling about things and I’ve been paranoid hat I’ve had problems with my liver, my ear, ect. and Im thinking it’s getting to my head. I can’t remember the last time I felt normal. I was at the mall with and suddenly got nervous and wanted to leave. After awhile it wore off but i wasnt in my right mind. I start feeling paranoid about everything when I seem to act normal, but I’m not sure I am. I’m scared that it might not be stress because it came on so randomly.

    • ANSWER:
It sounds a lot like an anxiety episode. These are very common in kids – your conscious mind is changing SO fast. You don’t notice it because you’re inside you – but as you get older and look back at it, you’ll see that you’re changing faster now than you’ll ever change again EVER.

Who knows what happens physically in the brain – but it can be a jarring rollicoaster ride.

Just try to relax and watch it all happen. There’s nothing you can do to fix it at the moment. And if it continues, then you’d have to talk to a psychologist and try to figure out why it’s continues. But mostly, it will be OK – and then bust out again at some other time.

Anyway – lots of people get it. It feels like total insanity – going to fall apart or explode – or go blind. But nothing is actually going to happen.

  28. QUESTION:
Sick for 3 months and no answers…help and/or advice?
    hey, guys.

i’m hoping you can help me out.

i’m a healthy female. i don’t smoke, drink, do drugs, etc. there’s no history of any illness in my family. but i’ve been sick for about 3 months, now going on four, and no one can tell me why or what’s causing me to feel sick all the time. i started out having a constant pounding heartbeat, but then i just got sicker and sicker with a bunch of weird symptoms.

i have all these symptoms CONSTANTLY! and my symptoms are:

    -pounding, hard, heavy heartbeat.

-strange awareness of my own breathing and shorness of breath
(feels like i don’t get enough oxygen in my lungs).

-painful sinus headaches, pain, and pressure

-yucky, sore, swollen throat and a bad taste in my mouth
(i don’t think my throat is swollen, it just feels like it sick/swollen).

-yucky, sick feeling in my stomach and stomach pains

    -irregular periods

    -ringing in ears

it feels like i have a constant “flu’ or something. could it be a sinus infection or something? i have had alot of tests done, and i think i’m going to get more. i have had my thyroid checked, my blood sugar, and i have had several blood tests and urinalysis tests done, too.

i have also had 3 ultrasounds done of my heart, a stress test, 24 EKG (holtor monitor), and a breathing test done. those tests were done about a month ago, though. i hope i don’t have anything serious, but the doctors only found one thing so far: h.pylori.
i was diagnosed with an h.pylori infection. so i had to take ALOT of medication for about a month to get rid of it. maybe it came back. i don’t think the h.pylori is what’s making me sick…but maybe it is. i had to take 3 different pills 3 times a day for a month. but sometimes i wonder if i was even properly diagnosed. i suppose i was.

i’m scared that i might have cancer, or lyme disease, or some really bad infection or disease somewhere in my body. but i don’t have fevers, and i’ve never fainted. the doctors say i’m an extremely healthy female, but something is still making me sick. i think the problem is related to my stomach somehow. i think that’s the source of my illness.

me, my parents, and my friends are all getting frustrated and upset because i’ve been sick for a while, and since the docs haven’t found anything (except the h.pylori), they think it’s all “anxiety” and “stress”. but i really don’t think it is.
my parents, my friends, and especially myself are all getting frustrated and upset because i’ve been sick for a while, and since the docs haven’t found anything (except the h.pylori), they think it’s all “anxiety” and “stress”.

but i’m going to get more tests done. a pelvic exam, an endoscopy, maybe an MRI, some more blood tests, and some more therapy. i just hope i have nothing serious.

i just want to feel better. i don’t want to be sick like this for much longer! no one wants to be sick. and it’s really hard when people say it’s all “in my head”, and even if it was, the pain is still there and it’s real.

any thoughts, ideas, help or advice that anyone could give me about my condition? i know it’s hard to make a diagnosis online, but any ideas as to what is making me feel sick ALL the time? thanks! =]

    • ANSWER:
Check out your hormones, you might have pcos.
I’m saying that because of the irregular periods.
I have pcos and i have all these symptoms.
And also depression can cause all that.
      go to a psychologist to.
Take some vitamins to boost your immune system , if you’re not allergic to bee products bee pollen and propolis are very good for sinus and all that.
But first go to your doctor to check your hormones.
      And your vitamin levels to.

  29. QUESTION:
    Help with Symptoms!!?
So i woke up this morning feeling like i always do, normal and ready to take on another day. About an hour after i woke up though i started to get a BAD headache above my right eye, the pain came in waves and about every 5 minutes i would get a sharp pain in the back of my head. (PS i NEVER get headaches, like one or two a year) I laid down for a while after i took an Advil, waiting for the pain to stop but it only got worse. I then started to become nauseous so i then got up and took 2 Excedrin. I laid down again until the headache eventually became a dull pain instead of an intense sharp constant pain. When i stood up to go eat something (because i figured taking all that meds on a empty stomach wasnt a very good idea) my hearing went out, like ringing in my ears and my sight went out for a while too. Had to stand still and regain my sight before i could continue onto the kitchen. I ate a piece of toast and laid down again. So all day ive felt nauseous, more so like the feeling of not eating for a day nauseous, not so much the puking kind, weak, achy, dizzy, tired, hearing would go in and out and my eye sight would go and come when i stood up. About an hour ago i started to feel better…um wtheck was up with today!? Any suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
Sounds like all the symptoms of a migraine. If it happens again, you should probably see your doctor.

  31. QUESTION:
Help! Seen 7 specialists and all my docs are stumped. My symptoms affect every part of my body just about.?
I’m fed up. I have a urologist, neurologist, gastroenterologist, internist, orthopedist, rheumatologist, gynecologist and an acupuncturist… and I’m only 25 years old. My doctors are all dumbfounded but are having fun trying to diagnose me. I’m fed up though and tired of being in pain. Please help.

My blood and urine tests come up fine, aside from a high calcium level, but only at 13.2. My CRF is low… so it’s apparently not an inflammation problem. My Xrays are fine, aside from “insignificant” scoliosis (3 curves). My MRI results show an “insignificant” hernia in my neck and “insignificant nerve degeneration” in my L1 and L2 discs.

My doctors suspect endometriosis, spastic colon (IBS), interstitial cystitis, and a non-inflammatory rheumatological disorder.

I have pain… and lots of it. I have pain in my female organs, my intestines, my bladder, my rectum, my joints, my head and my skin. It varies from dull and constant aching to sharp shooting pain.

Bladder- It hurts and feels very uncomfortable. It makes me have to urinate frequently. Just yesterday I peed over 20 times… 2-3 times per hour, sometimes more…. and I only drank one glass of water. I generally drink a lot of water, but on days like this, I try not to because it just makes it worse or so it seems. This pain and frequent urination comes and goes randomly. It’s made worse by tea and coffee. No cystoscopy yet because I was told that even if it was IC, there’s nothing much to do about it.

Joints- They hurt and are stiff almost every morning, but that also comes and goes randomly. When this happens I usually can’t do much of anything for at least 2 hours… usually more. This affects every single one of my joints. Can’t grip things too well and it feels like my hands are swollen, though they aren’t. In addition to that, I’m freakishly flexible (I can push my thumb forward and touch my arm easily)… so much so that my shoulder and hips pop out of socket frequently (or feel that way) and OUCH, that hurts! Aside from the morning problems I have the most joint pain in my shoulders, hips and knees. In the last 2 years this has been worse, but I can remember these types of problems since I was young. Doctors said I had “growing pains” but those pains are still here… grrr.

Muscles- Strong stabbing pain and shooting pain. Happens in random muscles at random times.

Head- Headaches in certain small points on my head: my temples, top left and right corners of the back of my head and bottom left and right corners of the back of my head. This usually happens in ONE of these points at a time, never on both sides.

Jaw- Ouch. I wake up and my jaw hurts like hell. My dentist says I’ve been grinding my teeth. On top of that my jaw gets random shooting and aching pains from time to time that don’t seem to be related with grinding my teeth.

Face- I’ve had several staph infections on my face: eyebrows, chin and jaw line.

Ears- Ouch. Lots of random inner ear pain that comes and goes randomly, sometimes radiates down through the side of my neck. Sometimes I have ringing in my ears. Also, ears are super sensitive to wind and cold (even barely cool weather).

Neck- neck pain and soreness at the back of my neck. Frequent “cricks in the neck” since childhood”. Sometimes when I make a particular slight movement with my neck to look up and I lean my head back a bit, I get TERRIBLE pain coming from the top of my neck/base of my skull that radiates upward around the base of my skull. When this happens everything goes BLACK for a second. The pain from this is so strong it can hurt for a good 30 minutes. After happening it can happen again very easily. Also, strong pinching pain in 2 locations on the front of my neck, on either side of my throat (on the outside of my neck, not deep inside). I also get this pinching sensation in my thighs in 2 specific locations.

Back- lower back pain, pain between my shoulder blades. I hate massages though because it hurts when people poke me with their fingers. If I do get a massage it has to be with one’s flattened palm.

GI- abdominal and pelvic pain (cramping, stabbing, radiating, throbbing, electrical, shooting, dull and aching pain), lots of gas, shooting rectal pain, constipation, diarrhea, mucus in stool, daily morning cramps with TERRIBLE pain (like severe menstrual cramps) that has me curled up in a ball squirming around (relieved after going to the bathroom).

    …That’s not all… see comments
Random weird stuff- burning rectangular patches of skin (no rash, just burning sensation) that lass from 2 hours to several days. It hurts more when I touch it, when my clothes rub up against it or when a veryyyyyy slight breeze blows over it. It BURNS like a real burn. It happens randomly with no pattern. It can show up on my arms, thights, butt, hips, abdomen, love handles and back. In addition, I randomly get tingling sensations in my fingers, hands, feet and toes. This comes and goes randomly.

Sleep- When I wake up from a nap I feel like I’ve been beat up with a baseball bat. My entire body hurts. Sometimes this happens when I wake up from a full night’s sleep. On top of that I feel TERRIBLE because my heart is fluttering. Family and friends have put their head on my chest and felt it themselves. In fact, it was a friend who noticed it first, not me.

Other- I get sick easily and I usually get fevers when I’m sick. Those fevers are TERRIBLE because my entire body burns like I’m
    …on fire.

Oh, and I also black out during roller coasters. I didn’t used to, but in the past few years half way through every ride I black out for a minute or so and just dangle there with my head flopping to the side (or so my friends say).

Please help. I’m tired of spending thousands of dollars on doctors who can’t help me. I’ve seen just about every specialist I can think of and that I’ve been referred to. This Thursday I have a sleep study with a neurologist… we’ll see how that goes. My rheumatologist suggested it. I just want to be well again. I’m tired of being sick, in pain and feeling like I’m 80 years old. I’m only 25 years old!

    Brain tumor possibly? help me!?
Ever since I could remember I have always had very bad headaches. They weren’t just once in a while ones, they were all the time, contant ones. This was back in grade 4, and they have been constant ever since, I am now in grade 12. I also remembered that in grade 6 I noticed a bump right on the center top of my head but a little bit more on my right side. I know that most people have that bump, but mine seems to be bigger. I haven’t noticed any growth in it at all, but now it seems to be painful around the area of the bump, and on the right side of my head. One night last october, i started getting a really bad dizzy spell late at night, I was so dizzy I couldn’t even sleep, the area of where the bump is located was throbing with pain. After that night I noticed a weird twitching in my right eye, which was only in my right eye for about a month. Now, I have twitching all over my body, especially my legs and arms. I sometimes get a tingly feeling down my legs and arms also, this is really scary. :( im really worried. I Haven’t told anyone or gotten to the doctors because of my fear of what it could be. :( i know some tumors could take long to grow, but i dont think it would take like 10 years? Everytime i swallow my ears click too, i also have ringing in my ears, it feels like it’s mostly in my left ear, but it can be on my right sometimes. I also feel aches all over my body, especially my shoulders, arms, and legs. please help.. :(
i was also wondering if it was an actual brain tumor wouldn’t it be inside my brain? not on the outside where i can feel it?
I think my jaw isn’t porportioned properly. It clicks when i open it, and sometimes when i wake up in the morning it’s dislocated but is easily to put back, i think i grind my teeth at night and basically just leave it in a position.

  37. QUESTION:
    Possible Anxiety Disorder? Advice?
This is going to be kind of long, but I want to explain my situation completely so that others may be able to better relate/sympathize or give advice.

I’m a 21 year old female and am in my last year of college. Freshmen year, so 3 years ago, I started struggling with stomach problems. After a few years of going to a handful of doctors it was finally discovered that I had a bacterial infection as well as lactose and fructose intolerance. That situation, for the most part, is under control but has left me with a great deal of anxiety and stress. I’m already a high stress person, something which college has made worse.

Over the past year or so I’ve had increased anxiety when going to restaurants or public places because of the issues I use to have with my stomach/digestive system. But it was always manageable and usually I could talk myself out of being upset.

Back in March, while visiting a museum I passed out. It was completely out of nowhere. I started to tingle from head to toe, my ears began to ring and I collapsed. When I woke up, my heart was pounding and I had the worst headache of my life. Since then, I’ve had this similar sensation a few times since but I haven’t passed out.

I decided to go to my family doctor last month and talk to her about my constant worrying, even though it was manageable, and mild anxiety. She suggested Zoloft to take the edge of my school/stomach anxiety. I took one 50 mg pill….and thought I was going to die. Heart racing out of control, overwhelming feelings of hopelessness and dread, I couldn’t eat of sleep for about a week. (all of the side effects lasted for about a week, I also had huge, dilated pupils) And this was from one pill. She took me off of it and I have since had a number of heart tests done, the results of which have not come back yet. Since taking this Zoloft, I have had this same overwhelming feeling numerous times and it’s something that I have never experienced, to this extreme extent, ever before. It usually starts out with a sick to my stomach feeling, I begin to sweat, my heart races, I’ll get a chill down my neck/back and I will tend to have panicky thoughts such as I’m going to feel like this forever, my boyfriend should’t have to put up with this etc- (which makes my episode worse) and I just want to leave where ever I’m at.

The way I felt before was manageable just a bit annoying. But now I feel like I have no control over my body. These episodes last, usually for about a day, maybe a few days and then stop and I feel like myself again. Physically and mentally.

Basically, what I’m wondering, have I had an anxiety disorder all along and it just recently got worse…and has nothing to do with that one Zoloft? Or has my issue gotten worse BECAUSE of how scared I was after taking the Zoloft? Also, I’ve been taking Yaz for the past two and a half years, and have recently been reading about other women having panic/anxiety issues while on this pill.

I can’t live like this forever. I’m in constant fear that I’m going to lose those I love. My boyfriend, my family, my friends. My mom, who dealt with a father with extreme mental illness (depression etc-) just tells me that I’m going to be ok and I just need to talk myself out of feeling like this. But that just makes it worse….her saying that. She is terrified of me becoming like so many of my other family members who have spent their lives bouncing from one anti-depressant to another, never feeling any better.

After my heart test results come back, and if all is well, I’m going to start seeing a councilor on my college campus and go from there. I’m not really searching for answers or a quick fix via the Internet, just some advice or incite from others who can relate or who have been in my shoes. I really appreciate it.

  38. QUESTION:
Migraine, Brain Tumor or something else? Recognize these symptoms?
Sometimes late at night, I will be sitting doing nothing, and all of a sudden I start to get very tight jaw, head pressure, ear pressure along with slight ringing, physical pains in my head in a different spot each time (headaches), and confusion/disorientation, sensitivity to light and sound, possibly stomach growling but I cant figure out if thats related because my stomach growls sometimes without these symptoms. My mother died from a brain tumor, so that is a fear of mine, Im 26 and in good shape. All of this seems to come on all of a sudden, and then disappear within 4 or 5 hours and then doesnt come back again until the next night or 2 nights later.

Does anybody know if the head pressure from a tumor would be constant and never go away and just get worse? It seems like it would always be constant head pressure, but mine goes away and returns late at night. I sleep during the day and Im up at night so late at night for me is about 7pm for you.

I’m pretty much out of all medical options for many reasons, so please don’t just say “go to a doctor”, if that was an option I would. I’m already very much in debt to the hospital for one thing, have no insurance etc. etc. I don’t expect anybody to diagnose me like a doctor could, but just wondering if anybody recognizes this or has an opinion. Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Let’s look at the symptoms of brain tumors.
These are the most common symptoms of brain tumors:

Headaches (usually worse in the morning)

      Nausea or vomiting

Changes in speech, vision, or hearing

      Problems balancing or walking

Changes in mood, personality, or ability to concentrate

      Problems with memory

Muscle jerking or twitching (seizures or convulsions)

Numbness or tingling in the arms or legs
These symptoms are not sure signs of a brain tumor. Other conditions also could cause these problems. Anyone with these symptoms should see a doctor as soon as possible. Only a doctor can diagnose and treat the problem.

      http://www.medicinenet.com/brain_tumor/page5.htm

      Now, symptoms of migraine headaches:
Migraine headaches, which can be dull or severe, usually:

      Feel throbbing, pounding, or pulsating
Are worse on one side of the head
      Last 6 to 48 hours
      Symptoms accompanying migraines include:

      Nausea and vomiting
      Sensitivity to light or sound
      Loss of appetite
      Fatigue
      Numbness, tingling, or weakness
Warning signs (auras) that can precede a migraine include seeing stars or zigzag lines, tunnel vision, or a temporary blind spot.

Symptoms that may linger even after the migraine has gone away include:

Feeling mentally dull, like your thinking is not clear or sharp
      Increased need for sleep
      Neck pain

So based on the above and your stated symptoms of headaches in diffferent spots; confusion, disorientation and sensitivity to lights and sounds it seems that you are suffering from migraine headaches; not from a brain tumor. So relax. !!! Tightness of your jaw; head and ear pressure with slight ringing and stomach growling might all be related to anxiety attacks.

Until the 1980s, scientists believed that migraines were due to changes in blood vessels within the brain. Today, most believe the attack actually begins in the brain itself, and involves various nerve pathways and chemicals in the brai

A migraine attack can be triggered by stress, food, environmental changes, or some other factor. However, the exact chain of events remains unclear

Migraine attacks may be triggered by:

      Allergic reactions
Bright lights, loud noises, and certain odors or perfumes
      Physical or emotional stress
      Changes in sleep patterns
      Smoking or exposure to smoke
      Skipping meals
      Alcohol
Menstrual cycle fluctuations, birth control pills
      Tension headaches
Foods containing tyramine (red wine, aged cheese, smoked fish, chicken livers, figs, and some beans), monosodium glutamate (MSG), or nitrates (like bacon, hot dogs, and salami)
Other foods such as chocolate, nuts, peanut butter, avocado, banana, citrus, onions, dairy products, and fermented or pickled foods

  39. QUESTION:
Critique my story so far please?
Ok well this is just the beginning, don’t expect too much. I did this one night when I was bored, then I started actually getting into it. xD

I felt hard, cold, rock on my back. I felt, concrete. I was lying down? How? Where? The dim street light shone off the two walls on my either side. I figured I was in an alleyway, at least I knew that much. A familiar sound rang above my head, my phone, my ring tone. I blindly grabbed for it. I sat up first, stabbed answer, then put it to my ear.
‘WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?! WHERE ARE YOU! I WAS WORRIED! I CALLED THE COPS!’ The sudden loudness made me drop my phone. I sighed, and felt around for my phone, once again. With such anger, I slammed the phone against my ear and started shouting back.
‘Shut up! I don’t know! I’m coming home!’
As the angry babbling carried on I ignored my mother and ended the call. I heard the ring tone not long after and knew I was in trouble once I got home. I staggered around looking drunk. Hoping to find a familiar landmark. Once I finally found our local park, I headed home.

As soon as I walked through the door the constant shout of my parents screamed at my brain. Bloody naggers.
‘Shut up! First of all, I woke up.. I don’t know where! Second of all I have a headache and third of all; SCREAMING AT ME ISN’T HELPING!’ I snapped, I never knew I could ever snap at my parents. I slugged off to my room as my parents jaws dropped to the ground. No worse, dropped to China. I clicked the TV on with my remote. Nothing was on. News about a murder, The Simpsons (on this late?!), ER, CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York (Jeez whats up with these murder shows.), more news. I sighed deeply and dumped myself on my bed.

Well thats about it. Comment please. :)
When I said I was bored, I also mentioned I started really getting into it.

    • ANSWER:
Since you said that you wrote this while you were bored then I wont take it as you are wanting a serious critique. All I can say is that it seems to be all over the place-sentence structure wise. I got lost in the middle of this and I am not seeing the point of this story.

Thank you!
Thank you all!!! I still have no clue. We haven’t had ghosts (that repeat or are worth mentioning) and have gas heating. We could cut the breakers, but we already ungplugged all his electronics in the room. We had a storm several nights ago and clicked all circuit breakers due to an outage in the lower part of the house. His room was still fine until 9pm this evening. I hung a picture in his room at 7:30ish and was fine. He doesn’t have flourescent lighting and there is nothing in the attic or crawl space. My cats usually love the attic, but now whine in his room (it leads to the attic….but you don’t hear the noice in his closet on the way to the attic) and we removed his pet mouse for fear of who knows what with its smaller ears and such. I think it is something that will die from batteries, eventually. We just can’t find it now. BTW, he doesn’t have alot of stuff, so also trying to be optomistic. ??? Still very confused!!!!

    • ANSWER:
Wow, that’s a doozy. I would start by turning off the breaker for the room…that can tell you if it is something in the wiring. Also, if there are any gas pipes or some other pressurized system piping behind any of his walls, a pinhole leak might sound like that. This may sound odd, but it’s possible that the small transformer that powers your doorbell might be inside one of his walls…so kill the power to that too, since transformers have been known to make various noises (even when operating normally).

If there is a crawlspace above or below the room, be sure to go check them out. It may be helpful to get an inexpensive stethoscope and try to isolate the source to a specific area or device that way.

I hope this helps, I’m sure your son would like to have his room back!

**UPDATE: There is one more thing that is probably in his room and is designed to make noise…although it would normally be a lot louder. Go check the smoke detector! They are supposed to beep if the battery is getting weak, but it might still be the source of your mystery noise.

  41. QUESTION:

    • ANSWER:
This seems so strange to me. You checked the light socket? And all outlets that are in the room? Also, have you turned off all other house lights and electronics while listening for it?
My thought is that it is some wiring or something. Also, if you have access to the attic, have you gone up there to see if it is something directly above his room making the noise?
Does he have a clock in the room? It seems as if you have checked everything that I can think of.

Oh yeah im 21 and overweight.
im a girl but im looking for answers anywhere.

When you have acid-reflux you can get pains when you lay down. That happens to me so I just have pillows behind me.

I would eat right and walk a few times a week.

About the other symptoms I’m not sure what it is. If your doctor doesn’t want to run the tests I would switch or get a second opinion.

I wish you all the best!

    • ANSWER:
      It could be cancer.
      It could be epilepsy.
It could be that you need glasses.
It could be you are just having panic attacks.
It could be you are a hypochondriac.

The only way to know is to see a Dr.

If your parent’s don’t think you need to see a Dr then you can either accept their decision (they are the adult, it is their job to worry about your health, not yours) or you can talk to the school nurse and medical attention can ordered and your parents charged with neglect.

The first step is to stop working yourself up into an hysterical panic attack.

  46. QUESTION:
    Scared – Brain Aneurysm!!?
Okay, so I went to the doctor with my dad about my headaches and stuff, and dad asked her to tell me that i haven’t got a brain aneurysm. she just kind of sat there for a bit, and dad asked again, and she said,
“i don’t think, in fact i’m almost 100% sure you haven’t got anything like that” but she kind of muttered it.
so i went home feeling the same, petrified.

    i still have these symptoms;
